THE UNWANTED CHRIST

BIBLE STUDY Aug 3rd 2022
TOPIC: THE UNWANTED CHRIST
Text: John 1:10-15
INTRODUCTION:
Long before the virgin birth Jesus into humanity at Bethlehem's manger, Jesus Christ has been in existence.
From the very beginning, He has been ruling, ordering and governing the whole of His creation John 1:3.
He took upon Himself the form of a man and came to save His own but alas, He was rejected.
John 1:10-13, Isa 53:2-3.
In this study, we will dig deeper into God’s Word to find out why Christ was rejected at His coming. May
the Holy Spirit reveal to us His mind for this message in Jesus name.
WHY WAS JESUS REJECTED?
1.Because He spoke the truth and exposed the hypocrisy of religious leaders of His time.
Mk. 7:5-8, Matt. 23:3, 33, Luke 11:37-46, Matt 10:22
2. He would not allow men to alter His destiny by making him an earthly king.
He refused pressure mounted upon Him by the people to do their wish. He stuck with God.
John 6:11-15, Rev 5:10, 1 Pet 2:9, 1 Sam. 15:24, 1 King 13:17-21
Jesus was not a power grabber who was lustful for titles or positions. He knew that a position of power not
given Him by the Father would not last long. Luke 14:7-11, Psa. 75:5-11, James 4:10
3. He was rejected because He spent His time for those hungry for God instead of power hungry leaders.
Jesus prioritized those with whom He spent His time with. Luke 15:1-7, John 4:28-30, Luke 10:39-42
4.He was not accepted because His focus was not money.
Mammon is money personified as an object of worship. Jesus taught Christians that our aspiration must be
to seek first His kingdom before the Father can release wealth into our hands. This is the opposite of what
the world of men practice Luke 16:13-15, Luke 12:13-21, Matt 6:32-33.
5.He was not accepted because people considered His standard too high. John 6:60, 2 Tim 4:2-5
He called on everyone to be more devoted to Him and His kingdom than their families Matt 10:37, life
itself Matt 10:39 and earthly possessions Matt 19:21, Matt 6:19-21.
He told everyone to live by Him and to be consumed with Him Acts 17:28.
He said any commitment below all that was mentioned above is only good for the manure pile.
Luke 14:26,33-35, Phil 3:8
CONCLUSION:
If Jesus were to be born in our day, given our lifestyles and priorities, would we have been one of His
followers or those that rejected Him? Let us look inward and go back to God in humility and ask for His
mercy so that we will stand firm in Christ to the end in Jesus name. Amen.
